Quote of the Day: Moral Victories Dashed

Via the Norman Transcript: “R.J. always said, regardless of what happened, he’d consider it a moral victory if he came out with 30 percent of the vote,” said Jonathan Gibbons, Harris’ campaign manager. (sic) The final results:  Tom Cole: 77%, R.J. Harris: 23% Now would be a good time to review those fake Persistence Polling numbers [...]

Question: Are these people delusional? Answer: Without a doubt

This is part of an e-mail sent out by RJ Harris’s campaign manager, Jonathan R. Gibbons, telling people Congressman Tom Cole is out of campaign cash.  Yes, seriously. “Are we to believe that, at this late stage, Cole has blown through his entire war chest (sic) and needs immediate contributions to keep his TV ads going…YES!  Cole [...]

Non-Race of the Day: Tom Cole vs. RJ Harris

Our non-race for today is Congressman Tom Cole vs. Law Student R.J. Harris.  Cole is a well-respected conservative Republican Congressman from Oklahoma’s 4th Congressional District.  He won the seat after one of Oklahoma’s most beloved congressmen, J.C. Watts, retired.  Harris is challenging Cole for the GOP nomination.  He is a law student at the University [...]

Wake-Up Calls from RJ Harris

wo things most voters hate are robo-calls and interferring with private or family time. One of the first things candidates learn at campaign schools is to leave voters alone on holidays, (in Norman and Stillwater) during football games, and if going door to door -after dark.
Most candidates agree with voters that robo-calls are obnoxious but then the candidates usually concede to their political consultants and end up doing robo-calls.
Next time there’s a campaign school, someone might want to add early morning wake up calls to the list of no nos.

Republican challenger RJ Harris, who is seeking to unseat popular conservative Republican Tom Cole, paid for a robo-call made to Cleveland County Republican voters at 6 A.M. this morning! The call which contrary to state law, did not list a call back number, but did have an out of state call center number on caller ID, asked voters to push “@” if the supported Harris and “3″ if they supported Cole. Those selecting Cole were then subjected to a recorded message from Mr. Harris asking them to please consider supporting Harris in next year’s June Primary.

Besides the obvious question of why conduct a poll this far off from the election, the burning question is how in the world did Harris’ campaign let this happen?

Calls to Mr. Harris’ campaign office this morning shortly after 6 A.M. were answered by a machine. One angry voter’s attempt to reach Mr. Harris at his home ended up in a conversation with a very apologetic response from the candidate’s wife. You see, according to her, Mr. Harris was still asleep in bed and couldn’t be bothered. But it was OK to wake everyone else up at 6 A.M.??
Since this morning, Harris has issued a statement on his website blaming the whole thing on a computer glitch. If the “glitch” is any indication of the type of job performance we an expect from candidate Harris, then Republicans in the 4th District would be wise to stick with incumbent Tom Cole – the only rude wake up calls he’ll make are to the Liberals currently running things back in DC.

Polling – or Trolling??

Earlier today I came across a press release by long shot Congressional candidate R.J. Harris. Harris is challenging Congressman Tom Cole, who represents Oklahoma’s Fourth Congressional District, in next year’s Republican primary. The press release said: September 10, 2009 – Internal polling from the RJ Harris 2010 campaign shows Rep. Tom Cole, the incumbent since [...]
